The CGR lab based in the Data Science and AI division at Chalmers University of Technology is recruiting two PhD students in the field of Machine Learning for Biology.

Location:

• Data Science and AI division, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Research Areas:

• The project focuses on developing new language model architectures (convolutional neural networks, transformers, state-space models) to train on DNA sequences. No background in biology is required and you’ll learn the necessary domain knowledge along the way.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Degree in a quantitative field (CS, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
• Proficiency in a programming language
• Coursework in linear algebra, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with a deep learning model (e.g. CNNs, GNNs, or transformers, ..)

The working language is English and starting date is flexible.
