Intro to Bioinformatics!
You want to do research in bioinformatics but studied CS, math, or engineering with no bio background? Bioinformatics is a huge field to address challenges in health, medicine, and biodiversity. Many master’s and undergrad programs are available, but to jump directly into research, for me, it felt overwhelming at first. For a quick start with DNA sequence–related research, I recommend these resources:
1- Genetics-101 Link. 2- DNA sequencing technologies: ACM Computing Surveys Link. Molecular Biology for Computer Scientists by Hunter Link. 3- Bioinformatics: An Introduction for Computer Scientists. Link.
It would be also useful to learn from online courses:
1- Eric Landres’ MIT course “Introduction to Biology - The Secret of Life” on Edx Link
2- Bioinformatics Specialization on coursera by Pavel Pevzner Link.
3- Genomic Data Science Specialization on Coursera by Steven Salzberg, Ben Langmead, and others. Link.
